Bristol, TN(August 5, 2009) -- It's not always about qualifying on the pole and leading every lap and as Nate Monteith found out on Saturday night at Lonesome Pine Raceway, it can be a whole lot sweeter when you overcome adversity and end the night in victory lane.

Monteith's team prepared last week like any other, looking over every nut and bolt to make sure that his car wasn't going to give him any problems, but on Saturday evening a couple hours before the race all that preparation didn't seem to be enough. Monteith was experiencing a fuel pick-up problem and had a little trouble trying to figure out where the problem was.

"We changed everything on the car from the carburetor to the spark plugs, wires and even took the fuel cell apart. The track let all the competitors add a gallon of alcohol to their fuel if they wanted, it was a fuel problem for sure," said Monteith.

Monteith and the entire BAM Racing team had really turned around their season since bringing on crew chief, Kirby Gobble, but it seemed that this fuel issue was going to derail their recent success, but all the changes and a combination of the alcohol seemed to cure the cars ills. When it came time to race Monteith and his car were ready to take on the stout field even if it was from shotgun on the field.

Monteith had qualified last after having a miss from the fuel pick-up problem, but that gave him the opportunity to pick up some valuable points as the track offers passing points in the form of two hard charger points for the driver who gains the most positions. Monteith started in the final and 11th position and it didn't take him long to start making his way up through the field.

His Graceway Pharmaceuticals Chevrolet Impala was running strong and by lap 14 he put it out front and into the lead. Monteith once out front began putting some distance on the field and showed that he was the class of the field leading the final 36-laps en route to victory. For Monteith it was his second win in a row and third of the 2009 season, but the way they won this one made it extra sweet.

"Starting in the rear can always be a challenge, you have to avoid the wrecks and take it one car at a time. This win was special, we had a great car, but had to overcome all the fuel issues and once the car was right it was on. I'm glad that we're now getting the results we knew we were capable of and I hope we can keep this momentum up."

With the win Monteith became the wins leader at Lonesome Pine and extended his point lead to 28 points with just six races left this season. With an off week from Lonesome Pine this week as a touring series invades, Monteith and the BAM Racing crew will head to Newport Speedway to get some laps in on that track before the October 17th race that pays $5,000.00 to win.

"I'm really looking forward to going to Newport Speedway. I've never raced there, but we went down and watched last week and it looks like a blast, so we'll go down there and get in some laps before the big race at the end of the year," concluded Monteith.

Monteith and the BAM Racing team is supported by Graceway Pharmaceuticals, Amsoil, SPEK Gauges, Clark's Automotive Race Engines, Griffin Radiators, Five Star Stock Car Bodies, TAB Performance, WD Performance Technology, Sherwin Williams Auto Finishes and Pistone LTO Chassis.
